Who Are They:

HOPEthiopia is committed to the restoration of both the people and the land of Ethiopia. This is accomplished by the implementation of four district project initiatives, each working together to produce a hopeful nation.

MISSION

The mission of HOPEthiopia is twofold: firstly, to raise Ethiopian children into citizens with exceptional moral standards and strength of character; and secondly, to restore the alues of purpose and dignity to the lives of Ethiopia’s homeless pastors.

VISION
HOPEthiopia will provide care and love to orphaned children and homeless retired pastors in the nation of Ethiopia. HOPEthiopia emphasizes the educational, physical, social, and spiritual needs of the individuals who call it “home”. It is the vision of HOPEthiopia to enable the people living therein to grow into confident and fulfilled Christian leaders, contributing to the well-being of Ethiopia. We will strive to restore a healthy, balanced, and sustainable environment.

What they are:

  • Community: Creating healthy homes for orphans and homeless and abandoned elderly. Setting up latrines, providing clean water stations which have distributed over 17 million liters of water.
  • Agriculture: Developing home gardens, sustainable mixed farming, vaccination programs & veterinary assistance. Providing livestock watering systems.
  • Reforestation: Planting millions of trees and grasses, bringing back biodiversity to the region.
  • Peace Gardens: Peace, beauty and life are found in joyous planting of beautiful flowers.
  • Medical: Providing Dental, Medical care and Eye surgeries for over 40,000 people. Providing equipment & support at local clinics and running the Days for girls program.
  • Education: Sponsorship of nursery, daycare, elementary and high school programs. Teacher assistance, and Trades Training programs to empower the most marginalized individuals.
  • Employment: Full time and over 300 part time local workers employed. Providing jobs for graduates of HOPEthiopia programs and setting up business cooperatives.

Additional Information

Team Members: Team is open to Adults (18+) for this construction team. Skilled construction team members desired. Must be able to work extended hours outside in extreme heat.

Passport Required: A passport valid through September 2018 is required for this trip. If your passport expiration is prior to September 2018, please contact the Global Reach Department for instructions before applying for this trip.

Vaccinations: There are no required vaccinations for this trip. To see recommended vaccinations, please visit the Center for Disease Control at: CDC Traveler to Ethiopia

What is covered by the trip fee? International round trip airfare to/from New Orleans/Ethiopia; insurance, housing, meals, ground transportation at destination. Your trip fee includes the required entry visa, but does not cover expenses to obtain a passport or any vaccinations.

We recommend bringing additional money for airport meals/snacks, any additional drinks or food you might want during the trip and other personal items you might want to buy. Your team leader can answer any specific questions regarding this.

Weather: Temperatures can range between lower to upper 70's daily. You will be provided with a complete packing list by your team leader.

Trip Fee: Total fee is $3500.00. Price subject to slight change due to airfare variations. Please refer to the Payment Schedule listed on the right side of this page.

Application Process: Apply online by clicking on the blue Trip Application button near the top of this page. Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed by the team leader. If approved, you will receive an approval email. At that point, you will need to pay the $200 Application Fee to secure your spot. The $200 Application Fee is not tax deductible. The remaining balance of the cost of the trip is tax deductible. All trip funds are non-transferable and non-refundable. Your account must be paid in full in order to go on the trip.

Personal expenses, optional for-fee activities, airport meals and snacks, fees to obtain passport, or vaccinations are NOT included in the trip cost.
